BBC insiders say executives “practically begged” Alison Hammond to return after 16 years: “They even promised an ASTONISHING paycheck…”

Alison Hammond to Host BBC Game Show Reboot After 16 Years

Alison Hammond has landed another high-profile presenting role as the BBC prepares to bring back the beloved game show Hole in the Wall after a 16-year hiatus.

The This Morning star, known for her infectious personality and engaging hosting skills,

is set to follow in the footsteps of the late Dale Winton and Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke as the show’s new host.

BBC Revives Fan-Favorite Game Show

Originally airing between 2008 and 2009, Hole in the Wall became a hit with audiences due to its hilarious premise and entertaining challenges.

The game involves contestants contorting their bodies to fit through uniquely shaped cutouts in a moving polystyrene wall—otherwise, they risk being knocked into a pool of water. The show, which originated in Japan under the name Brain Wall, gained popularity in the UK due to its comedic value and engaging gameplay.

According to reports, the BBC has decided to revive the show due to its strong past ratings and enduring appeal. A source revealed to The Sun, “Hole in the Wall got great ratings when it first came out, so the Beeb have decided to bring it back. They are currently filming the pilot to see how it shapes up.”

Alison Hammond ‘Jumps at the Chance’ to Host

The BBC was keen to secure Alison Hammond as the new face of the reboot, and the star was reportedly enthusiastic about taking on the role.

“She’s one of TV’s most in-demand stars right now, and the Beeb is over the moon that they’ve signed her,” the insider added. Alison’s warmth, humor, and larger-than-life personality make her a natural choice for the game show, which thrives on fun and laughter.

This new hosting gig marks another major milestone in Alison’s ever-growing television career. The presenter, who first gained fame as a contestant on Big Brother in 2002, has since become one of the UK’s most beloved TV personalities. From her role as a co-host on This Morning to fronting The Great British Bake Off, Alison has proven her versatility and ability to entertain audiences across various formats.

A Legacy of Hosts: Following in Famous Footsteps

Hole in the Wall first premiered on the BBC in 2008 with the late Dale Winton as its original host. Winton, best known for Supermarket Sweep, brought his signature charm and enthusiasm to the show, making it an instant hit with viewers.

In its second season, the show saw a change in hosting duties as Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke took over. Now, with the reboot in the works, Alison Hammond is set to bring her unique flair to the game show, ensuring a fresh and exciting new take on the format.

Alison Hammond’s Busy Year in Television

The Hole in the Wall revival is just one of many exciting projects Alison has been involved with recently. The TV star has been incredibly busy, not only presenting The Great British Bake Off but also taking to the stage in panto performances.

She recently wrapped up her role as the Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan at the Birmingham Hippodrome, where she reportedly earned an impressive £3,000 per show—totaling a whopping £195,000 for the entire run. Her panto success, coupled with her ever-growing list of television roles, cements her status as one of the UK’s most sought-after presenters.

What’s Next for Alison and Hole in the Wall?

Currently, the BBC is filming a pilot episode of the reboot to test its viability before officially launching a full season. If successful, Hole in the Wall could once again become a must-watch Saturday night staple, offering viewers plenty of laughs and thrilling gameplay.

As fans eagerly await more details about the show’s return, one thing is certain—Alison Hammond’s involvement is sure to bring a fresh, exciting energy to the beloved format. Whether she’s making contestants laugh, encouraging them to squeeze through impossible gaps, or simply bringing her signature charm to the screen, her hosting gig is set to be a highlight of the BBC’s entertainment lineup.

With her infectious enthusiasm and natural ability to engage audiences, Alison is undoubtedly the perfect choice to helm Hole in the Wall’s long-awaited comeback.
