Kelly Ripa fuels rumors that LIVE could be on an extended hiatus after making a mysterious remark about her future: “What I don’t want is about to happen…”

Kelly Ripa kicked off the October 28 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark with an exciting yet bittersweet announcement,

revealing a significant change that will impact the entire production team.

The longtime talk show host shared details about the show’s upcoming move to a new studio, marking a major transition for Live.

A New Era for Live

As she addressed the studio audience—and her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos

—Kelly described the current state of their workspace, humorously comparing it to a chaotic “one-show Walmart.”

She noted that backstage was filled with an assortment of decorations, from holiday wreaths to pumpkins and even an American flag, hinting at the inevitable move.

“If you work here, you will know that backstage there is such seasonal confusion,” she said. “We are a one-show Walmart. There are wreaths, a turkey, I saw an American flag, a bunch of pumpkins. If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear we are closing this studio down soon.”

Her remarks confirmed what she had previously mentioned earlier in the month—Live is moving from its longtime home on the Upper West Side to a brand-new, state-of-the-art studio in SoHo. The shift represents a fresh start for the show but also brings some unexpected irony for Kelly and Mark.

A Full Circle Moment for Kelly and Mark

While the new studio boasts the latest technology and a sleek modern design, Kelly and Mark couldn’t help but reflect on the irony of the timing. The couple, who previously lived in SoHo, now reside on the Upper East Side, meaning their daily commute to work will soon become longer.

“You and I went down to tour the new studios because apparently our show is finally moving to a new location,” Kelly said on air. “But that’s not going to happen for some time, and I don’t believe it’s going to happen.”

Mark quickly reassured her, “No, no, it’s happening.”

Kelly, however, remained skeptical, quipping, “I’ll probably still be here… I don’t believe it’s happening.” She went on to recall how their current studio had technically been sold years ago, yet they had remained there for over a decade.

The move may require some adjustments for the couple, but they remain excited about the transition. Kelly described the new SoHo studio as “fancy” and “state-of-the-art,” acknowledging the bittersweet reality of relocating after so many years.

A Longer Commute for the Co-Hosts

For years, Kelly and Mark have enjoyed a relatively short commute to work from their stunning Upper East Side townhouse, where they raised their three children—Michael, Lola, and Joaquin. With Live relocating downtown, their new daily routine will require extra travel time.

While the couple has joked about the move being slightly inconvenient, they are ultimately embracing the change. Having worked in television for decades, Kelly understands the importance of adaptability, and Mark, who joined Live as a permanent co-host in 2023, shares her enthusiasm for the show’s evolution.

A New Chapter for Live

Kelly and Mark’s on-screen chemistry has been a fan favorite since Mark took over as co-host in 2023, and their fun, lighthearted banter will undoubtedly continue in the new space. The move signals a new era for Live, allowing for upgraded production quality and a refreshed energy as the show settles into its SoHo location.

Despite the initial hesitation from Kelly, Mark remains optimistic about the transition. “This place has been sold for ten years,” he reminded her, emphasizing that change is long overdue.

As Live prepares to make this significant move, longtime viewers can expect the same dynamic and entertaining content—just from a different part of the city.

Kelly and Mark’s Family Life Amid the Transition

While change is happening at work, Kelly and Mark remain focused on their family life as well. Now officially empty nesters, the couple has embraced this new chapter while maintaining a close bond with their children.

During a recent interview, Mark shared his joy over spending time with their kids and their partners during the holiday season. “It was lovely… It was really nice people to spend time with. They did a great job. We love them all. I was just really proud of the fact that our kids wanted to hang out with us,” he said.

Mark expressed gratitude that their children still enjoy being around their parents and bring their significant others along without hesitation. “That’s kind of the goal after you raise them… But I was just really thrilled and honored that my kids would want to spend time with me and my wife,” he added.

As Kelly and Mark gear up for this major transition at Live, their strong partnership—both on and off-screen—remains evident. Their playful yet supportive dynamic continues to resonate with audiences, making them one of daytime television’s most beloved couples.

With Live set to move into its brand-new SoHo studio, fans can expect the same humor, warmth, and engaging conversations they’ve come to love—just in a fresh new setting.
