The woman who sustained significant injuries in an incident with LeBron James and his son Bronny has shared text messages indicating she was coerced into withdrawing her lawsuit: “They even dispatched individuals to damage my property.”

NBA superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny James are currently involved in a legal dispute concerning a car accident that took place in November 2022.

The father-son duo, however, is denying any wrongdoing, according to recent legal documents obtained by PEOPLE and the Los Angeles Times.

The lawsuit, filed by plaintiffs April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen,

claims that LeBron and Bronny were responsible for a car crash on Pearblossom Highway in Littlerock, California, which led to significant medical and financial damages.

LeBron, 40, and Bronny, 20, who are both high-profile basketball players, have rejected all allegations in the complaint.

Their legal team issued a statement categorically denying the accusations, asserting that neither LeBron nor Bronny caused any damage or harm as claimed in the lawsuit.

The defense further denies that the plaintiffs suffered any financial losses in the amounts stated in the complaint, or at all.

The incident in question occurred on November 13, 2022, and involved a collision on the highway north of Los Angeles. The plaintiffs, Lopez and McGillen, allege that they incurred various expenses due to the crash. These include medical costs for treatments involving physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare providers, as well as the loss of income from their jobs. Additionally, the women claim that their vehicle was severely damaged in the accident and is no longer usable, leading to its depreciation in value.

In the lawsuit filed in October 2024, the plaintiffs also allege that the crash has caused them ongoing physical and emotional distress, requiring further medical treatment. They also expect future medical expenses related to their injuries. These claims have been refuted by LeBron and Bronny’s legal representatives, who continue to maintain that their involvement in the incident was not responsible for the damages cited in the lawsuit.

Interestingly, the lawsuit was filed just hours before LeBron and Bronny made history as the first father-son duo to play in an NBA game together on October 22, 2024. In what was a milestone moment for both players, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103. The game was a highly anticipated event, with both LeBron and Bronny contributing to the team’s victory. Despite the legal drama surrounding them, LeBron appeared to be in high spirits after the game.

Reflecting on the historic evening, LeBron shared his gratitude for the moment, describing it as something he would never forget. “That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together is something I will never forget,” he said. LeBron expressed how meaningful the experience was to him, emphasizing that no matter how his memory might fade with age, he would always cherish the moment of playing alongside his son.

LeBron’s mood after the game remained positive, as he continued to express appreciation for the day’s events. “Everything was just great today for me—everything,” he said. LeBron went on to describe how he had spent the day, beginning with seeing his daughter before school, followed by a day of work, and ending with the historic game alongside Bronny. He described it as a perfect day, despite the legal challenge facing him and his son.

As the lawsuit progresses, it remains to be seen how the case will unfold. However, LeBron and Bronny’s legal team has made it clear that they intend to fight the allegations vigorously. For now, the father-son duo continues to focus on their basketball careers, with LeBron enjoying a continued legacy in the NBA and Bronny making his mark in the league as well.

The lawsuit may have cast a shadow over an otherwise triumphant moment for the James family, but it has not seemed to dampen LeBron’s enthusiasm for his achievements and his role as both a father and a professional athlete. As the case moves through the legal system, it is clear that LeBron and Bronny are not letting the allegations distract them from their shared passion for basketball and the remarkable achievements they continue to accomplish together.
