Blake Lively is facing criticism once more following Anna Kendrick’s revelation that she has been “intimidated” by the actress for several months: “She even shelling out a lot of cash to employ people…”

The highly anticipated sequel to A Simple Favor is finally here, and Blake Lively’s Emily Nelson is back—with a vengeance.

Prime Video has unveiled the first look at Another Simple Favor, teasing an action-packed thriller filled with deception, suspense,

and a glamorous wedding that quickly spirals into chaos.

Emily Nelson Makes a Shocking Return

The trailer, released on February 26, opens with Anna Kendrick’s character, Stephanie Smothers, promoting her new book, The Faceless Blonde,

which recounts the dramatic events of the first film.

Stephanie believes she’s finally put her past behind her—until Emily suddenly appears, sending shockwaves through the event.

“Boo!” Emily exclaims, making it clear that she’s not only out of prison but also ready to reclaim control.

Emily then extends an unexpected invitation: she wants Stephanie to be the maid of honor at her upcoming wedding in Italy. Understandably skeptical, Stephanie questions the true motive behind the invitation.

“Do you think I invited you to get revenge for stealing my life and taking my kid away? Do you think I want to make you pay?” Emily asks, to which Stephanie hesitantly replies, “I don’t know, do you?”

A Wedding Filled With Deadly Surprises

Despite the extravagant setting of an Italian wedding, the trailer quickly reveals that this is no ordinary celebration. Tensions run high as Stephanie stumbles upon a dead body, an explosion disrupts the festivities, and a mysterious figure falls from a balcony.

Emily’s sinister charm remains intact, with her delivering a chilling line at the end of the trailer: “If I do try to murder you, it’ll make an amazing sequel.”

Returning and New Cast Members

Alongside Lively and Kendrick, Henry Golding reprises his role as Emily’s estranged husband, Sean. Other familiar faces returning to the sequel include Andrew Rannells, Aparna Nancherla, Kelly McCormack, Ian Ho, and Joshua Satine.

The trailer also introduces several new cast members, including Alex Newell, Michele Morrone, Elena Sofia Ricci, Allison Janney, and Elizabeth Perkins, adding to the intrigue of the sequel.

A Premiere at SXSW and Prime Video Release

Before its official release on Prime Video this spring, Another Simple Favor is set to premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 7, where fans will get an early look at the film’s thrilling twists.

Blake Lively’s First Film Amid Legal Battle with Justin Baldoni

Another Simple Favor marks Lively’s first movie release since her highly publicized legal battle with actor-director Justin Baldoni.

In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and misconduct during the making of It Ends With Us, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Baldoni, in turn, filed multiple lawsuits against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, The New York Times, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, accusing them of defamation and orchestrating a smear campaign against him.

Lively’s legal team called Baldoni’s lawsuit “desperate,” while Baldoni denied all allegations. The legal battle has continued to escalate, with a trial date set for March 9, 2026.

Director Paul Feig Stands by Lively

Despite ongoing speculation, Another Simple Favor director Paul Feig has been vocal in his support for Lively.

“I’ve now made two movies with Blake, and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented, and kind people I’ve ever worked with,” Feig stated on social media following Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni. “She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her. I think it’s awful she was put through this.”

Feig also addressed rumors that Another Simple Favor was at risk of cancellation due to Lively’s legal drama. When asked about it on social media, he firmly responded, “It’s my cut. There is no other cut.” This was seen as a subtle jab at Baldoni, who previously claimed that Lively had created her own version of It Ends With Us to block him from the project.

A Sequel Worth the Wait

With an all-star cast, high-stakes drama, and an intriguing storyline, Another Simple Favor promises to deliver another thrilling mystery filled with unexpected twists. As Emily Nelson makes her return, audiences can expect an unforgettable ride when the film debuts later this year.
