A former crew member from A Simple Favor has released a clip that captures Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in a heated argument during the film’s premiere: “They might have ended up fighting if someone hadn’t stepped in.”

When I attended the premiere of A Simple Favour in 2018, it was just another glamorous event on the Hollywood calendar.

The red carpet was filled with excitement as Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick promoted the mystery thriller, which put women at the forefront of the story.

However, six and a half years later, the dynamic between the film’s leading ladies appears to have shifted, with rumors of tension overshadowing the highly anticipated sequel.

As the film’s follow-up prepares to hit Prime Video in May, sources have claimed that Lively and Kendrick have clashed behind the scenes.

While they have publicly maintained a friendly image, insiders suggest that Lively’s alleged legal troubles have created friction, causing strain between the two co-stars.

A Look Back at the 2018 Premiere

At the film’s premiere at London’s BFI Southbank, Lively, dressed in a striking pastel pink suit, made her way along the press line, engaging with journalists. As a mystery-thriller, A Simple Favour captivated audiences by following Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) as she attempted to uncover the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her friend, Emily Nelson (Lively). The film’s success paved the way for more female-led productions, a topic that Lively was particularly passionate about when speaking to the press.

When asked about working alongside Kendrick, Lively responded in a playful manner, initially joking, “Horrible!” before adding, “No, we have so much fun together.” Despite their on-screen chemistry, she admitted that they spent little time together outside of filming, citing long hours in hair and makeup as the reason.

Kendrick, in turn, kept up the banter, joking, “It was a nightmare. I’m actually being held here against my will.” She later praised the film’s cast and crew, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work on such a uniquely styled project.

At the time, the playful exchanges between the two actresses were brushed off as lighthearted humor, but in retrospect, some fans now interpret them as hints of underlying tension.

Tension Behind the Scenes?

With A Simple Favour 2 set to debut soon, speculation about a feud between Lively and Kendrick has resurfaced. Reports suggest that their professional relationship may not have been as smooth as it appeared, with rumors of clashes on set. Some sources claim that Lively’s personal issues, including alleged legal troubles, may have caused frustration for Kendrick, leading to increased tension.

Adding fuel to the fire, an old interview clip from MTV News has recently resurfaced, showing Kendrick making sarcastic comments about Lively’s talent. The Pitch Perfect star quipped that she had met Lively through her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and jokingly hinted that she didn’t know what to expect from working with her. In the same interview, Kendrick snapped, “Don’t touch me,” at Lively, who awkwardly laughed off the moment.

As the interview continued, Kendrick’s sharp humor remained on display. When Lively remarked that she could never be a Disney princess without Kendrick’s singing voice, Kendrick mockingly responded, “Oh muffin, it’s so hard being you!” Lively, seemingly frustrated, later called out the interviewer for directing most questions to Kendrick instead of her.

What Does This Mean for the Sequel?

Despite the ongoing speculation about their off-screen relationship, both Lively and Kendrick remain committed to promoting A Simple Favour 2. However, fans can’t help but wonder whether the rumored tension will affect their chemistry in the upcoming film.

During the press tour for the original movie, Lively expressed enthusiasm about playing a comedic role, crediting her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for sharpening her comedic skills. However, given the alleged behind-the-scenes friction, some are questioning whether the actresses will be able to maintain their professional camaraderie during the sequel’s promotional events.

While neither Lively nor Kendrick has publicly addressed the feud rumors, their interactions leading up to the film’s release will undoubtedly be closely scrutinized. For now, fans are left to speculate whether this is simply playful banter taken out of context or if there’s a deeper rift between the two stars.
