Andrea McLean opens up about the shocking mistreatment she experienced from fellow hospital patients after they realized she was a celebrity.

Former Loose Women star Andrea McLean recently shared details of a terrifying health scare that led to her being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

The 54-year-old television personality revealed that she collapsed at home after battling a severe illness, resulting in a diagnosis of pneumonia, acute kidney injury, and sepsis.

Andrea recounted how her ordeal began in December when she initially believed she was suffering from a standard winter flu.

Expecting her symptoms to subside within a few days, she continued with her routine. However, as time passed, her condition worsened significantly.

For a week, she endured persistent fever, chills, and chest pain.

The turning point came when she noticed a disturbing change—her urine had turned brown, an alarming sign of a potential serious health issue.

The situation took a drastic turn when Andrea collapsed in her bathroom and remained on the floor for an hour before her husband, Nick Feeney, discovered her. Recognizing the urgency, the couple sought immediate medical advice, and upon their doctor’s recommendation, they called for emergency assistance.

Paramedics arrived promptly, assessing Andrea’s critical condition. She recalled feeling barely conscious due to the severity of her symptoms, with her blood pressure alarmingly low and pain overwhelming her body. She was swiftly transported to the hospital, where medical professionals conducted a series of tests, including X-rays and CT scans. The results confirmed the gravity of her illness—she was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, an acute kidney injury, and sepsis, all of which required urgent medical intervention.

The hospital staff quickly took action, administering intravenous antibiotics and placing Andrea under close observation. She was transferred to the Emergency Assessment Ward, where she received further treatment. Despite the intensive care, her hospital stay proved to be a distressing experience. She described sleepless nights, relentless discomfort, and a sense of vulnerability amid the chaos of a busy medical ward.

Her first night in the respiratory unit was particularly unsettling, as she shared space with elderly patients, some suffering from dementia. One incident stood out in her memory—an elderly woman persistently tugging at her privacy curtain, creating a deeply unsettling experience during an already challenging time.

Throughout her hospitalization, Andrea faced extreme exhaustion and an inability to eat due to heightened sensitivity in her taste buds. The overwhelming nature of her illness left her physically and emotionally drained. However, after days of rigorous treatment and careful monitoring, she expressed a strong desire to return home, believing that a calmer environment would aid her recovery.

Following discussions with her doctors, Andrea was allowed to return home at night while continuing daily hospital visits for intravenous antibiotics and further assessments. This arrangement provided her with some comfort and a much-needed sense of normalcy as she began the slow journey to recovery.

Reflecting on her experience, Andrea expressed immense gratitude for her husband’s unwavering support. She acknowledged that Nick had been her pillar of strength, putting his life on hold to ensure she received the care she needed. From driving her to the hospital daily to preparing meals and helping her through the most challenging moments, his dedication never wavered.

Now, five weeks into her recovery, Andrea admitted that the healing process has been slower than she initially anticipated. While she hoped to bounce back quickly, she has learned to appreciate the small moments of progress. One such moment came when she and Nick shared a spontaneous burst of laughter—a simple yet powerful reminder of how far she had come since her harrowing ordeal.

As she continues to regain her strength, Andrea remains optimistic about the future. Her experience has given her a renewed perspective on health and resilience, emphasizing the importance of listening to one’s body and seeking medical attention when necessary. Fans of the former Loose Women star have expressed their support, wishing her a full and speedy recovery.
