Tiger Woods discloses he was intentionally harmed while training, resulting in a torn Achilles: “I had to end my career because of that jerk…”

Tiger Woods has been dealt another unfortunate blow, adding to what has already been a difficult period in his life.

The golf legend, who recently lost his mother, Kultida Woods, revealed on Tuesday, March 11, that he has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Woods, 49, shared the news on social media, explaining that the injury occurred while he was intensifying his training at home.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” he wrote.

Surgery and Recovery

Shortly after sustaining the injury, Woods underwent surgery to repair the tendon.

Dr. Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally invasive procedure to address the damage.

Providing an update on his condition, Woods assured fans that the operation was successful. He quoted his doctor, who stated, “The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.”

While Woods is no stranger to injuries throughout his career, this setback comes at a particularly challenging time. His recent loss of his mother has taken an emotional toll on him, making his road to recovery even more complex.

Woods’ Hopes for a Return to Golf

Before this injury, Woods had been focused on returning to competitive golf. He recently participated in the inaugural TGL golf league and was eyeing a potential comeback at the Masters Tournament next month. Last year, he made history at the event by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time.

However, Woods has acknowledged that his mother’s passing has impacted his motivation to train. Speaking at a recent TGL match, he admitted, “This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed, so I haven’t really gotten into it. My heart is not into practicing right now. I have so many other things to do with the tour. Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”

With his latest injury, any plans for a return to competitive golf may be delayed even further.

Absence from the 2025 Players Championship

Despite earning an exemption to participate in the 2025 Players Championship due to his victory at the Masters in 2019, Woods’ name was notably absent from the list of 144 players scheduled to compete. As of Monday, March 10, he had not been included in the official lineup.

Given his recent Achilles injury and personal struggles, it remains unclear when Woods will be able to return to the sport he has dominated for decades. Fans will now have to wait and see how his recovery progresses and whether he will be able to make another comeback in the near future.

Another Challenge in Woods’ Resilient Career

Throughout his legendary career, Woods has battled numerous physical setbacks, including multiple knee surgeries, back problems, and a severe leg injury from a 2021 car accident. Despite these obstacles, he has always managed to defy the odds and make remarkable returns to the sport.

This latest injury will undoubtedly test his resilience once again. However, if history has shown anything, it’s that Woods is no stranger to adversity and has an uncanny ability to stage comebacks when least expected.

For now, his focus will be on healing—both physically and emotionally—as he navigates this difficult chapter in his life.
