Television presenter Ruth Langsford, 64, has recently opened up about her profound concerns regarding Alzheimer’s disease, 

especially in light of her family’s history with the condition. Both of her parents were affected by Alzheimer’s, which intensifies her apprehension about her own cognitive health. 

In a candid interview, Langsford admitted that the possibility of developing the disease “horrifies” her. 

She stated, “I’m a bit head in the sand about Alzheimer’s. Both my parents have had it, I know what it entails and it horrifies me.” 

Despite the availability of tests that can assess one’s likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s, 

Langsford chooses not to undergo them due to the current lack of effective treatments. 

She explained, “There’s a test you can do to know if you are more likely to get it, but because there’s no medication to treat it, I’d rather not know.” This decision reflects her desire to focus on the present rather than dwell on potential future health issues.

Langsford also shared that even minor memory lapses can trigger panic, given her awareness of the disease’s early symptoms. You can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.”
