Chelsea Handler has never been one to shy away from candid and often outrageous remarks, 

and her latest revelation about former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is no exception. During a recent appearance on The View, 

Handler gave viewers an amusing update on her past attraction to Cuomo, 

admitting that after boldly expressing her interest in him on the show, he initially responded—only to later ghost her completely.

Chelsea Handler’s Bold Declaration

Handler reminded The View co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg of an appearance she made on the show during the COVID-19 pandemic, 

when she openly declared her infatuation with Cuomo. At the time, Cuomo was gaining national attention for his leadership and daily press briefings, making him a surprising but widely discussed political crush for many.

“Everyone was in love with Andrew Cuomo, myself included. I had a big crush on Andrew Cuomo,” Handler recalled. She went on to explain that during a virtual interview on The View, she made it very clear that she was interested in him romantically.

“I was on Zoom because of COVID. I was talking to Whoopi and Joy, and I announced my attraction to Andrew Cuomo because I wanted it to get out there. And I knew he would hear about it,” she said.

Handler, never one to mince words, took her declaration a step further by explicitly stating her desires. “So I sat on this show, I shot my shot, and declared my desire to be penetrated by the governor of New York.”

Cuomo’s Initial Response—and Then Silence

To Handler’s delight, it seemed that her bold move worked—at first. She revealed that just a few days after her public confession, Cuomo himself reached out to her.

“Guess what? Guess who called me three days later? Yeah. The governor of New York,” she said, leaving the audience and co-hosts intrigued.

However, despite the promising beginning, things took a turn. Handler shared that there was ultimately “never” any actual connection between them because Cuomo ended up ghosting her.

“I got ghosted by him,” she admitted. But in hindsight, she now sees it as a blessing in disguise.

“Which was actually a lucky call because he ended up getting canceled shortly thereafter, so I got out of there by the skin of my teeth,” she joked.

Cuomo’s Fall from Grace

While Cuomo was once widely praised for his handling of the pandemic, his reputation took a dramatic nosedive in late 2020 when multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment. A Justice Department investigation later determined that Cuomo had engaged in inappropriate behavior, which included making unwelcome comments, ogling, and non-consensual physical contact with more than a dozen women.

These allegations ultimately led to his resignation in August 2021, marking a swift and dramatic fall from power for the former governor. Handler’s revelation that she had once sought a romantic connection with him—but ultimately dodged the situation—added a humorous twist to what became a serious and widely publicized scandal.
