The CEO of the Chiefs surprises fans by disclosing the major health issue Travis Kelce faced prior to the Super Bowl—and he points fingers at Taylor Swift, claiming: “She’s ruining his career…”

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was dealing with a significant illness in the lead-up to the 2025 Super Bowl, according to the team’s general manager, Brett Veach.

The revelation came during Veach’s appearance on the “NFL: The Insiders” podcast,

where he acknowledged Kelce’s health struggles before the team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelce’s Health Struggles Before the Big Game

While discussing the Chiefs’ performance in the championship game, Veach, 47, shared insight into Kelce’s condition,

though he was quick to clarify that it did not serve as an excuse for the team’s defeat.

“We’re never gonna make excuses and talk about it, but I mean, yeah, he was battling with a pretty big illness there before the Super Bowl,” Veach said.

Despite being unwell, Kelce still took the field for the Chiefs, showcasing his dedication to the team. However, Veach emphasized that the Eagles played exceptionally well, making it clear that Kelce’s health would not have altered the outcome of the game.

“The way the Eagles played, it wouldn’t have made a difference,” he added.

Veach did not disclose the specific details of Kelce’s illness, leaving fans to speculate about what the tight end endured leading up to the most important game of the season.

Speculation on Kelce’s Future in the NFL

Beyond discussing Kelce’s pre-Super Bowl health issues, Veach also addressed growing speculation regarding the athlete’s future in professional football. As Kelce, 35, has yet to confirm whether he will return for the 2025 season, many fans have questioned if he is considering retirement.

When asked directly whether Kelce would be playing next season, Veach responded with cautious optimism.

“I think so,” he said, suggesting that while nothing has been officially decided, the Chiefs expect Kelce to remain with the team.

“There’s been a lot of talk about the timeline and deadlines, and that’s something as an organization we haven’t discussed,” Veach continued. “We anticipate Travis being back.”

Chiefs Confident in Kelce’s Return

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Kelce’s plans, the Chiefs’ management remains confident that he will continue playing. Veach expressed his enthusiasm about having the star tight end on the roster for another season.

“We’re excited to have Travis back,” he said. “We’re operating under that assumption.”

Veach also praised Kelce’s dedication to the sport, emphasizing his impact on the team both on and off the field.

“I think that Travis is excited to come back, and he finds a way to stay in shape and produce at a level only he can,” he noted. “He makes us better when he’s in our locker room and on the field, and again, we’re excited to get him back.”

Kelce’s Mindset After the Super Bowl

Following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss, Veach revealed that Kelce remained passionate about the game. He told The New York Post that the tight end left the championship “fired up” and motivated to continue his football career.

“He has one more year under contract,” Veach pointed out, reinforcing the idea that Kelce is still committed to the sport. “Still think he has that fire and desire to play.”

What’s Next for Travis Kelce?

Although Kelce has not made an official announcement about his future, all signs point to him returning for another season. With his competitive drive and leadership qualities, the Chiefs are eager to have him back as they look to bounce back from their Super Bowl defeat.

As fans wait for confirmation from Kelce himself, one thing is certain—whether healthy or battling illness, he remains one of the most influential and respected players in the league.
