VIDEO: HGTV personality Ty Pennington raises eyebrows after revealing in a recent interview that he actually finds pleasure in the sensation of DEATH.

HGTV star Ty Pennington is looking back on a life-threatening health scare he experienced nearly two years ago

while adding his signature humor to the situation.

The television personality, known for his energetic presence on home renovation shows, recently spoke about the ordeal and how it changed his perspective on life.

Pennington, who stars in the upcoming drama No Address, revealed in an interview

that the frightening incident was ultimately one of his “best experiences” because it showed him how much he meant to the people in his life.

Ty Pennington’s Health Scare

In July 2023, Pennington was rushed to the hospital after an abscess in his throat swelled so severely that it blocked his airway. He was intubated and underwent emergency surgery. At the time, he shared his journey with fans through social media, describing how he went from walking a red carpet to being admitted to the ICU within days.

“From the red carpet to the ICU… this last week has been interesting!” he wrote in an Instagram post. He explained that he had been struggling with a sore throat for weeks but didn’t realize how serious it was until he woke up unable to breathe.

Doctors quickly determined that the throat infection had progressed to a dangerous level. Pennington was intubated, flown to a hospital in Denver, and underwent surgery to remove the abscess. He later emphasized the importance of listening to one’s body and not ignoring persistent health issues.

Finding Humor in the Ordeal

Despite the severity of the situation, Pennington has maintained a lighthearted attitude about it. He joked that some people might have been happy about his throat closing up because it meant they wouldn’t have to hear his voice anymore.

“I’m sure a few people out there were excited: ‘Does that mean we won’t hear his annoying voice anymore?’ But unfortunately, the voice did come back, and I’m in really good health,” he quipped.

Beyond the humor, the experience gave Pennington a deeper appreciation for life. He shared that it was a reminder of how much he was valued by those around him, as many people reached out to express their love and support.

“You find out who loves you because people message you, and you’re like, ‘My God, it’s like you died.’ And people finally message you and say, ‘My God, I forgot how much I love you,’” he reflected.

New Film ‘No Address’ Sheds Light on Homelessness

Now fully recovered, Pennington has been promoting his latest project, No Address, a film that explores the realities of homelessness. Starring alongside Billy Baldwin and Lucas Jade Zumann, Pennington plays a role in the emotional drama, which is inspired by true stories.

The movie follows a group of individuals experiencing homelessness and highlights the struggles they face while trying to survive without a stable home. According to the film’s press release, No Address delves into themes of hope, humanity, and resilience.

As part of his involvement in the film, Pennington visited a homeless encampment in Sacramento, California, to gain firsthand insight into the challenges people in that situation endure. He shared how eye-opening the experience was, particularly in understanding what it truly means to have “no address.”

“When you’re there, and you realize that there are people that have lost everything, you start to understand what ‘No Address’ means,” Pennington explained. “It means you don’t have a mailbox anymore. You can’t get your tag for your car, so it’s going to get impounded. Next thing you know, all your possessions are gone, your identity is gone, your self-worth is gone.”

Lessons from the Homeless Community

One of the most surprising aspects of Pennington’s visit to the encampment was witnessing the sense of community among those living on the streets. Despite their struggles, many individuals looked out for each other, offering protection and support in an uncertain environment.

“There was a community within that community where people were looking out for each other,” he said. “But at the same time, everyone was in fear because they didn’t know if in the middle of the night they were going to get raided, things were going to get torn down, and they were going to have to move to another street or move away.”

Pennington emphasized that homelessness is a complex issue that could affect anyone under the right circumstances. He hopes the film will shed light on the reality that many people living without homes are simply individuals who have fallen on hard times.

A New Perspective on Life

Between his near-death experience and his work on No Address, Pennington has gained a renewed appreciation for the things many people take for granted—health, home, and community.

“Honestly, I think we should all go through something like that so you really appreciate the people that love you, because sometimes we take that for granted,” he shared.

With his health restored and a meaningful new project in the works, Pennington continues to use his platform to inspire, entertain, and raise awareness about important issues.
